MATATAU STRIKE against oil prices hike

It was interesting  to see the gusto with which COTU secretary general came out in support of  the proposed matatu strike.Zeal without  the proper knowledge is very dangerous.I say this because , paralyzing transport all over the country and calling youths to burn factories might not be the best approach.  Further more, is matatu industry an appropriate and/or adequate partner in this en devour?. Or is COTU merely looking for  the bully of the estate regardless of  SUSTAINABILITY and OBJECTIVITY of the partnership.

Our dear COTU, let me inform you, our high price of oil is a result of inefficiency in oil handling. These include:-
-delays in clearance
-lack of adequate storage
- inefficient inland transport/distribution of oil
Some of the suggested solutions include:-
-government's investment in rail transport
-depoliticization of port operations so that efficiency is persued as opposed to political correctness
-digitization of port operations
-investment in rail transport
It appears that the level at which COTU is taking up this matter is mediocre and to some extent counterproductive.
In a  continuation of this article we invite suggestions on practical and rational steps  that COTU should take  to help workers contribute to efforts aimed at prompting the government to  bring down the  price of oil .

HASSAN OMAR'S WAVERING CONSCIENCE

Hassan Omar is a man who needs a deep soul searching .One is left wondering whether the conscience  of this human rights star is any longer touching ground with the simple principle of fairness.
This hatred in his heart is too obvious and conspicuous in the flow of his thought and talk.
It is understandable that hassan may  have misgivings  about Kibaki's administration and/or his allies ,a claim whose burden of proof lies squarely on hassan's shoulders , but to brand a whole ethnic group negatively  on account of  the above is not only unfair ,it is incitement,  it is also absurd  and criminal as well.
Mr hassan never considered the innocent children ,youths, women and poor rural folks in his ethnically biased article. His flow of thought epitomized in this  article portrays  a person who has a latent  and shrewd enmity with peaceful coexistence. Had this argument come from a lay man we would have laughed it off, but not when it comes from a human rights expert. This is mischief of the highest order.

Mr. hassan is a star  who is fading and this isn't accidental. The 'shining' of a star, that is synonymous  with our essence and meaning in life has its source in principles which comes from God ,whatever you take him to be.

When a human being blatantly and adversely targets an innocent group  that doesn't have the equivalent of his advantage of a voice and position ,God emerges from the woods against such an individual. The helpless and voiceless affected may not defend themselves but this hatred in the heart of hassan will be judged  by God if not our courts.
I pass the back to God and his servant Mzalendo Kibunja.

SYOKIMAU DEMOLITIONS

Parliament should be applauded  for its no nonsense approach to the sensitive issue that is Syokimau Demolitions among others. The nation have read empathy on the part of  parliamentarians.Thumbs up to the Mutava Msyimi led Parliamentary Committee. THE PROCESS WAS GOOD THE PROCESS WAS METICULOUS,but when it came to the recommendations something went amiss.
The Mtava msyimi led Committee should have  emphasized criminal investigation to be initiated to bring the fraudulent land dealers to book.
The case is simple : some body is claiming he bought land genuinely. The  other person is  confirming he sold his land  legally.
Let it be clear that you can sell only what you hold in good standing.
Key to the whole mess is the responsible officers in government, the land dealers in question and professionals in the private sector  who negligently or fraudulently midwifed  the sale of Syokimau land . If any compensation is to be done , the specific  people should carry their own cross. Throwing the burden to the government is doing so to the tax payer  who has been willingly paying same officers to take care of anything that would cause such eventuality.
Making the the tax payer a door mart for criminals, while same criminals are handled criminals with feather   fingers is unacceptable.

WORKER'S STRIKES AND QUICK FIX STEPS TO APPEASE THEM

Teachers have been  on strike, doctors and now matatu operator;s are back to the same, all demanding a slice  of the national cake from treasury.
The way the government is responding to these strikes leaves us wondering  whether it is  acting out of prudence or mere populist interests.
The arbitrary increase in salaries would increase government expenditure meaning tax will need to be increased.
Increasing salaries by private companies will increase cost of production and hence the prices of  goods. All these steps passes the buck onto the low salaried worker.
We seriously need leadership ,not only management , in this scenario.Cost of salary should be matched with what we are producing.
If this haphazard handling of salary versus cost of goods  challenge are not handled prudently  there is a time bomb that is ticking right now. This is Wanjiku who whenever she becomes desperate she overwhelms the society like a flood.
Can the government come in the open and tell its citizens the   situation we are in .

Nairobi Analyst: DEVOLUTION AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Nairobi Analyst: DEVOLUTION AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT: Hail Hon. Mungatana and other like minded MPs for faithfully staying the noble course of protecting our hard earned constitution. Kenyans...

DOCTOR'S STRIKE

What a dumbfounding disaster all ministers concerned went under or was it political craftiness, but then at what cost.
A sigh of relief was literally heard when the president directed concerned departments to  look into the matter conclusively.
Doctors are not only complaining over small salaries but also deplorable state of the health facility plus inadequate staffing and funding.
For those who have not experienced, some worst case scenarios involve patients being asked to carry plain papers  for writing the prescriptions, lack of basic  equipment for simple diagnosis.
However, let the government realize that this is a doctors problem much as it is not for teachers but we have a general challenge in rationalization of our salaries and a sustainable budget.

DEVOLUTION AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Hail Hon. Mungatana and other like minded MPs for faithfully staying the noble course of protecting our hard earned constitution.

Kenyans understand that majority of our MPs have not yet been delivered from the hangovers of  single party rule  and centralized power.

Let all Kenyans  awaken to the fact that we are in a new era. This wanton adulteration of our constitution.  They have been at it with the issue of women representation, election date and  now  the office of the senator, at the county government level, among others.
Hon. Jeremiah Kioni's fronted bill for scrapping of the office of the senator is a slap in the face of Kenyans who voted overwhelmingly for the new constitution.
The office of the senator is pivotal and  key to functioning of the the structure of a devolved government .Before anybody thinks of the cost of sustaining that office it would be wise to consider the cost of going  back to Kenyans, build consensus on  a new structure of  government and ultimately doing a referendum to pass the same.
The opponents of this  office on the basis of cost should first propose lowering of salaries.
In the spirit of the devolved governance, the office of the senate provides representation of the  local government in the top levels of the central government.Central government will not wield the usual excessive power.
From the look of things some people may imagine  the equivalent of the current parliament being  the senate in the next government. This is not only ridiculous but also irritating.

All parliamentary hopefuls should be aware that Kenyans are watching keenly on the way they treat our new constitution.
